Any players who have attempted to clear a temple before you will appear as a phantom in your run. You can use this to get an idea of where they went, what they did.

It’s common for roguelikes to corner a player into punching a hole in their monitor. However, they need to get the balance between rage and reward just right in order to be enjoyable.

But there’s already a great foundation here – a stellar sense of movement and moment-to-moment gameplay worth getting excited about. We look forward to seeing how the game will continue to develop and further encourage long-term spelunking.

Blessings range from adding Em excesso heart containers and healing damage taken, to movement-enhancing power-ups such as a post-jump glide, and longer whip reach. Activating blessings costs more with each subsequent redemption, adding a compelling risk-reward element. While some treasure chests are easy to find, many are hidden away in areas requiring dextrous platforming skills to reach, or take precious time away from avoiding an in-pursuit guardian.

Since it grapples almost instantaneously, it increases the window of time you have to grapple a platform while falling fast, which is how I've gotten the most use out of it. You can drop through tall rooms with abandon and more safely snag a platform to break your fall.

in its current state it offers very little reason to try new whips once you find the ones you like. In the previous versions of the game to spice up the run I could try a new whip and because the whip was cursed it adds a new Em excesso challenge. And the reward for winning with the curse was a non cursed version of the whip where you just had the unique whip benefit.

And double jump B tier. Heart container is better than double jump. You want long whip and wings anyways, so double jump is pretty useless, plus it glitches out sometimes.

Social Connections – Players can share Temple Codes Phantom Abyss Speedrun for their failed runs allowing friends to attempt the same temple or share their Adventure Code which yields a playlist of temples that player has attempted in the past.

No ability in this game has any kind of detrimental effect on your run, and just because I consider an ability to be lower tier does not mean that I wouldn't ever pick it up -- however, I personally tend to prioritize my blessings based on the following ranks:

It gets very fast. Some people say that if it is turning it moves slower. As far as I have seen, by the end of the caverns, it will pretty much not be falling behind and will overtake you even if you are running, so you take your headstart and keep running to finish levels after that.

You are not alone in your task, however. The temple is filled with the spirits of other adventurers, rendered as ghosts. You’re not playing with other people in real time. Rather, you’re seeing a recording of their run.
